About me

I make stuff ….. cause I get sad if I don’t

every creator ever

I have been a crafter most all my life. From the time I was young I’ve always been creative. My urge to create and experiment with different mediums got stronger as a teen in high school with the opportunity to work with paper, clay, photography, fibers and paint. My mother taught me to sew and knit and although she was not experienced in fancy knitting or clothing she taught me and my sisters the basics. After my first marriage failed my father urged me to go to college part time to learn the evolving technology of Computer Science.

For the next 30 years I worked in the IT industry during which time I was asked if I wanted to build a website… well… YEAH. So add websites and image manipulation to my list of “crafty” endeavors. My husband and I remodeled our two houses in Florida doing construction, tile, paint, wallpaper, wiring, plumbing and more. We then sold them to move to Kentucky where we started an alpaca farm, built several barns and put up fencing. The alpaca farm brought me heavily into the world of natural fibers. I learned to evaluate the fleece and fiber from my herd and how to clean and process it into yarn. I also learned several ways to dye the yarn. So add skirting, washing, carding and spinning fibers, dying and weaving to list.

Along the way I have always owned a sewing machine. A few years ago I bought a new one that also did embroidery and I was hooked. I’ve been sitting on the fence about getting a multi-needle machine for embroidery. On August 24, 2020 I jumped off the fence and ordered a Babylock Venture! … down the Rabbit Hole We Go !
